Recommended Grasses - There are four major cool season
grasses which are favorable to conditions in Connecticut. These
grasses are Kentucky Blue Grass, Perennial Rye Grass, Tall Fescue
and Fine fescue lawns.
Kentucky Bluegrass and
Perennial Rye require the highest amount of maintenance of the
four as regular fertilizing and adequate water supplies are
necessary for a healthy lawn. Tall
Fescues and Fine Fescues each perform well under low
maintenance situations with Fine Fescues doing a little
better under very low maintenance conditions. Meyer
Zoysia (warm season grass)
is occasionally planted in Conn.
