NEW MEXICO LAWN GRASSES
Recommended Grasses -
Bermuda grass is
probably the most common choice at low elevations in the southern
parts of the state. Common Bermuda and many of its hybrids like
the heat that it constant in many areas of the state. With a deep
root system this grass is considered very good when it comes to
drought tolerance. In the cooler climates of New Mexico
Kentucky bluegrass does
quite well. It would be advantageous to plant the disease free
cultivars such as Midnight.
Native grasses such as
Buffalo grass may also be used in areas where water is scarce. All
Lawns should be watered regularly during warm weather and during
extended dry periods during the cool season.
